Conclusion

I know - finally!

Thank you for getting this far. This little story is based on a graphic, similar to the 'truth' graphic on the previous page, that I first saw many years ago. I feel beaten down by the change in politics within the last 40 years. I've always felt that the country was stronger than any one person that might be elected as our President. However, since the 2024 elections, I truly fear for the short term existence of this republic as we now know it.

I'm tired of social media. It has become too easy to express opinion as fact and to have that opinion repeated as fact, to the point that a given statement is believed to be fact when it is rooted in nothing more than someone's opinion. It saddens me how this one thing, I believe, has led to the rampant failure for individuals to exercise empathy. It has made us lazy - it has become easier to brush off those that think and believe differently than us as being stupid, idiots, and lacking common sense instead of making the effort to communicate with each other, to try to see their point of view, to open discussions on finding a better way that makes most of us happy.

Has the federal government been broken for some time? Absolutely. Are changes in the federal government warranted? Without a doubt. Let's make these changes with a scalpel instead of a sledge hammer.
